Age is just a number: Senior citizens conquer Mt. Apo!
Two senior citizens from Quezon Province successfully conquered the peak of Mt. Apo!
According to Kuya Kim's report on "24 Oras," Thursday, it has always been the dream of Lola Imelda (65 years old) and Lola Juliana (64 years old) to climb the tallest mountain in the Philippines.
“Matagal na po naming pangarap dahil ‘yun ay napanood namin sa TV na ‘yun ang bundok na pinakamataas,” said Lola Imelda.
[It has been our dream for a long time because we saw it on TV that it is the highest mountain.]
Despite worrying about how they’ll be able to do it because of their age, they travelled from Quezon to Mindanao to conquer the mountain.
The trek wasn’t easy for the two brave and inspiring ladies.
“Nahirapan po kami dahil maputik at naulan,” recalled Lola Juliana.
[We had a difficult time because it was muddy, and it rained.]
“Napagod din po kasi ‘yung fog, ‘yung singaw ng asupre, tapos nadilim kaya giniginaw din kami,” added Lola Imelda.
[We also got tired because of the fog, the sulfuric steam, and it became dark, so we were also feeling cold.]
After surpassing those challenges, the two finally reached the peak!
They didn’t give up because they trusted that God would guide them.
“Nagpapasalamat po kami sa Ama sapagkat po ‘yung mga lika nil ana mga kalikasan ay aming natanaw. Napakaganda,” exclaimed Lola Imelda.
[We are grateful to the Father because we have witnessed His creations in nature. It's very beautiful.]
Congratulations, Lolas! You inspire us!
