Luneta Park opens new play garden with swings and seesaws made from recycled plastic waste

Luneta Park opens children's play area surrounded by native trees

With Christmas break just around the corner, we’re sure you’re looking for places to visit where your kids can also have fun.

You don’t need to travel far because Luneta Park just opened a new play garden where children can run, play, and enjoy.

According to a post on the National Parks Development Committee’s (NPDC) Facebook page, the park was officially opened on November 17.

Aside from featuring swings, slides, bridges, and a climbing pyramid made from recycled plastic waster and metal, the open area is also “surrounded by newly planted native trees and plants.”

In the same post, NPDC Executive Director Cecille Lorenzana-Romero shared that many park-goers have been looking for a children’s play facility inside the park.

“This call was answered when Aina Valencia approached NPDC in February 2022 with a dream to do civic engagement work with children through art in the outdoors, creative play, education, and urban gardening inside Rizal Park,” she added.

The trees planted within the area also aim to educate children about our native trees. Some of the trees you can find in the park include the Kulatingan, Katmon, and Banai Banai, among others.

The Children’s Play Area is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and there is no admission fee.

What are you waiting for? Bring your kids to the children’s play garden and see them make the most of the open area.
