Why David Pomeranz keeps coming back to the Philippines

David Pomeranz has visited and performed in the Philippines several times during his decades-long career and with good reason.

The American singer-songwriter opened “It’s Showtime” on Friday with a performance of his top hit “Born For You.”

Afterwards, David greeted the audience with a “What’s up Madlang People!” Although he has appeared on the noontime show before, he still called his time there as “great fun, good party.”

Karylle asked David what it is about the Philippines that keeps him coming back.

David said, “I come back because I love the people here.”

He added, “It’s simple. Whenever I’m invited back, I just get excited.”

David is currently in the Philippines to mark his 40th anniversary since the first time he performed in the country. He first visited in 1983 with fellow singers Stephen Bishop and Michael Johnson.

“This is an especially meaningful event for me because it also marks the beginning of a relationship with these wonderful people which serves as an unendingly blessed source of joy for me and my family to this day,” David said on Facebook.

The Coming Home with David Pomeranz 40th Anniversary Concert Tour will make 11 stops across the country this December. David has concerts in Manila, Zamboanga, Cagayan de Oro, Pangasinan, Ormoc, Bicol, Mindoro, Maguindanao del Sur, Tacloban, Samar, and Iloilo. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA Integrated News
