Kelsey Merritt is now a certified open water scuba diver!
Kelsey Merritt just earned her certification for open water scuba diving in the Maldives!
The supermodel shared the good news on Instagram, along with some photos from her scuba diving journey.
“She’s officially open water certified,” Kelsey said in the caption, adding she was "so happy I finally had the time to get my [PADI] license on this trip!”
PADI Open Water Diver is the first scuba certification level by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), founded in 1966. It is the most-recognized scuba diving certification in the world, with more than 900,000 divers choose PADI each year, PADI says on its website.
The Deep Blue Diving Center meanwhile differentiates open water scuba diving from regular diving, saying " In essence, a scuba diver is a beginner diver who explores the underwater world under the direct supervision of a PADI professional. On the other hand, an open water diver is more experienced and enjoys the freedom to dive independently with a certified buddy, extending their range of exploration."
Impressive isn't it?
Kelsey is the first Filipina to have ever walked the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2018. She followed up the feat the following year by being first Pinay to grace the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.
In September, she reached another milestone of buying a house in Los Angeles, California.
