At PAWS' Halloween event, a group of dogs came as 'Maria Clara at Ibarra' characters and won best group costume!

At PAWS' Halloween event on Sunday, a group of dogs came dressed as "Maria Clara at Ibarra" characters and won best group costume!

There was Tweetie who came as Maria Clara, Ryder as Crisostomo Ibarra, Miso who came as Klay, and Darcy as Padre Salvi, complete with a bald spot!

The dogs are from Retriever Pack PH (RPP), a dog community on Instagram established in 2018, though some of them have known each other longer than that, "since we would usually attend the same events and end up bunching together," Pia de Leon, Tweetie's furmom, tells GMA News Online over email.

According to Pia, they agreed on the ensemble costume as early as April 2023, but "planning for Halloween actually starts as early as the previous Halloween," she said.

"The idea came from Nicole, the furmom of Captain, who played Fidel," Pia continued. "She was watching the series and already had an idea on the casting for our retriever pack."

As soon as they all agreed on the "Maria Clara at Ibarra" theme, they approached Instagram user Poochtotty, "who regularly makes gowns, dresses, and costumes for some members of our group."

The results were amazing to say the least. Tweetie's Maria Clara look, for instance, came complete with a trail, a choker, and even an abanico.    

The dogs have long been joining PAWS' Scaredy Cats and Dogs event as individuals and decided to join as a group — as the Dogvengers — back in 2019 and won. 

They decided to join again this year as Maria Clara at Ibarra characters, and what do you know? The pack won Best Dog Group in Costume!

The 18th edition of the PAWS Scaredy Cats and Dogs event took place at the Ayala Feliz Mall on Sunday. Ten prizes were up for grabs.
