PH bet Yllana Marie Aduana tells story of a ‘small town dreamer’ in her Miss Earth introduction video
The Philippines’ bet Yllana Marie Aduana creatively introduced herself in Miss Earth’s delegates presentation portion by telling the story of a “small town dreamer.”
Wearing a colorful crocheted yarn dress by clothing brand My Fren, Yllana started narrating the story by saying the small town dreamer had “a colossal dream and an ardent spirit to make things happen.”
She said the girl grew up in a “very environmental and very distant locale surrounded by trees, water, paddies, and breathtaking scenery.”
“And every morning during sunrise, her grandfather would lift her into a wagon, and they would go all over the neighborhood to say hello to people and see the beauty of the planet through her province. She carried all of those precious memories growing up, and everyone in town would say all of those shaped her to be makakalikasan and to be the Earth protectress that she is now,” Yllana added.
“And you know who that is? That is me, Yllana Marie Aduana, your Miss Earth Philippines 2023,” she said.
She became a licensed medical laboratory scientist and a certified drug analyst by profession.
Yllana also became a professional model and the president of the non-profit organization Education for Every Juan.
In 2021, she joined her first ever pageant, Miss Philippines Earth, and finished as a runner-up.
“But I am committed. I am committed to fulfill what my heart wants, and my heart wants this,” she said.
“That is why this year I joined again, and I became the 23rd Earth Queen of the Philippines, and I told myself that not everyone would be given the platform and the privilege to be looked up to and to be considered a role model. That is why I am only living life now with so much commitment, passion, and purpose,” Yllana said.
She also shared that she was the first Filipina beauty queen to speak about her advocacy before the United Nations.
“My passion solidified with purpose and has allowed me to travel to all 17 regions of my beautiful country, the Philippines, to conduct the 17 community outreaches in line with the 17 United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals,” she said.
“Who would have thought that this small town dreamer in a wagon would make it to the big scene in a carriage?” Yllana continued. “Hey, she is committed; she is passionate, purposeful, most importantly, she is ardent to make things happen. She is me.”
Yllana was named Miss Earth Philippines in April. She was crowned by her predecessor, Jenny Ramp.
She will represent the Philippines in Miss Earth’s pre-pageant events as well as in the coronation night on December 22 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
