Lola Amour apologizes for 'Raining in Manila' music video teaser

Lola Amour issued an apology after their “Raining in Manila” music video teaser received mixed reactions from netizens.

On X (formerly Twitter), the OPM band said that they understand their fans’ disappointment.

“Hey guys! We just want to say that we hear you and we understand your disappointment. We were not sensitive enough about how the teaser was presented, and with that, we are sorry. We do hope you give the MV a chance as it was greatly misrepresented by the teaser,” Lola Amour wrote.

Their statement came two days after they released a teaser clip for their hit song's music video.

The 34-second video showed the band members on a boat in the middle of a flooded area.

Disappointed netizens expressed their dismay, saying the band “romanticized” the suffering of Filipinos during calamities.

“This feels like when rich kids document their field/ charity work for clout. Yikes!” a netizen wrote.

“I hope you are not romanticizing our suffering kapag mga ganitong sakuna. I was rooting for you @lolaamourmusic,” another follower said.

“No. Not this. Huhuhu. You ruined the song with this MV,” replied another.

In the same thread as their apology statement, Lola Amour shared some snaps of the music video and a summary.

“It's about a man who reconnects with his long lost wife through a magic gecko, all set in an alternate timeline where it has been raining for already 1427 days,” the band said.

On Thursday, Lola Amour released the full music video of “Raining in Manila.”

Set in an alternate reality, it follows the story of John and his missing wife, Shiela, and how they reconnected through a magic gecko.

Lola Amour’s “Raining in Manila” was released in June and has since been a sensation. Even ENHYPEN, BamBam, and National Artist Ricky Lee can’t get enough of the track. It was also spoofed by Michael V. on “Bubble Gang” titled "Waiting Here sa Pila."

The band embarked on a tour named after their megahit.
