For her Miss International national costume, Nicole Borromeo transformed into a glamorous sea urchin

The Philippines’ Nicole Borromeo just wowed pageant fans as she gave a fresh take on showcasing the Philippines’ rich culture in an international pageant’s national costume round!

During the 61st Miss International pageant on Thursday, Nicole walked the stage wearing her national costume inspired by the sea urchin.

On Instagram, Binibining Pilipinas said that her costume embodied the culinary treasure loved by both the Philippines and Japan.

Designed by Axel Que, Nicole’s “Swaki” costume was filled with colors using hand-sewn sequins, “reminiscent of Yayoi Kusama's iconic polka dots.”

Binibining Pilipinas added that it aims to capture “shared passion for gastronomy and coastal way of life.”

Pageant fans were in awe after seeing Nicole’s unique national costume and poured positive feedback on her photos.

“Very creative and out of the box concept!” a netizen commented.

“UNIQUE, FRESH, AND NEVER SEEN BEFORE!! GANDAAA,” another follower wrote.

“LITERAL NA FRESH COSTUME. bago yung idea I LOVE ITTTT,” commented another.

In one of Miss International 2023’s preliminary functions, Nicole wore a kimono that perfectly matched her beauty.

Nicole is currently vying for the Philippines’ seventh Miss International crown.

The coronation night is being held at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo. It is live streamed on Miss International’s YouTube page.
