'Hamilton': Rachelle Ann Go reveals her favorite scene as Elizabeth Schuyler
Rachelle Ann Go has been part of the cast of "Hamilton" for over six years, but in those six years, a lot has changed in her personal life, including getting married and having two children.
According to the theater actress, these developments in her life have helped her become a better artist in bringing to life the story and voice of Elizabeth Schuyler, the wife of Alexander Hamilton — and mother of their son, Philip.
In Wednesday's "Hamilton" press conference held in Solaire Resort, Rachelle said her favorite part in the almost three-hour musical is Philip's death.
"My favorite moment right now [or] the scene that really gets me the most is Philip's death," she told the members of the press.
"RIght now, thinking about it gets me [so] emotional," she added.
Rachelle also said being a mom has brought a different version of her that was so different when she first portrayed Eliza back in 2016.
"Now, I don't need to dig deeper before [approaching] the scene," she said.
"I can be in that moment and feel all the feels, all the emotions because I know now how to be a mom. I know what a mom feels like," she added.
Rachelle said that if she were to choose her favorite scene back in 2016, her answer would be different.
"I believe I was a totally different person back then," she said. "Now, I'm a mom of two. If you [had asked] me this question before, my answer now would be so different."
In the same press conference, Rachelle said that being part of the cast of "Hamilton" in its Philippine run is a dream come true.
"I was actually telling some of my friends that back in 2017, when I did this role in the West End, I had a feeling that Hamilton [would] be coming to the Philippines," she said.
"For some reason, I just had that vision, and I told myself, I'm gonna do this role in the Philippines," she added.
Aside from "Hamilton," Rachelle is best known for her roles as Gigi in "Miss Saigon" and Fantine in "Les Miserables" in the West End.
"Hamilton" tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, one of the founding fathers of what is now the United States of America. Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the lyrics, music, and libretto of this hip-hop musical.
The critically acclaimed musical has earned 11 Tony Awards, seven Olivier Awards, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album.
"Hamilton" runs in The Theatre in Solaire until November 26.
