GMA Kapuso Foundation treats childhood cancer survivors to day at amusement park
At a young age, Ivan Bulac had a bout of acute lymphocytic leukemia, which greatly affected his childhood.
According to a “24 Oras” report on Wednesday, GMA Kapuso Foundation extended assistance to Ivan, who became part of the Kapuso Cancer Champions Program. He received medicines for his chemotherapy with the help of the foundation’s donors.
“Maputla. Kaya pala yung puti niya hindi normal. Tsaka ‘yung tuhod niya lagi niyang iniinda parang ayaw niyang lumakad, tinatamad s’ya maglakad. Parang masakit, tinatamad s’ya. ‘Yun pala ‘yung buto niya masasakit na,” Ivan’s mother, Mary Jean Bulac, recalled.
In 2020, Ivan’s condition finally improved.
“Dati po, lagi po masakit po katawan ko, hindi po ‘ko makalakad nang maayos po, ngayon po okay na po, nakakalakad na po ako nang maayos,” the young boy said.
As her way of expressing gratitude, Mary Jean is now helping others.
“Nakita ko na nabuhay ang anak ko dahil sa mga tulong ng ibang tao, kaya ibinabalik ko lang po ‘yung kabutihan ni Lord,” she said.
The lives of cancer patients, whether young or old, are changed and this is especially true for the children.
Children, even though stricken with cancer, should still be able to play and visit places.
In celebration of World Leukemia Awareness Month, the GMA Kapuso Foundation brought Ivan and other young cancer survivors to an amusement park in Ever Commonwealth.
The children did different exciting activities and also received gifts.
For those who are interested to help, the GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
