'Percy Jackson' live action is a 'faithful adaptation,' author Rick Riordan says
Rick Riordan is nothing but satisfied over how the live-action adaptation of his book series "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" is shaping up.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the novelist said that has been involved with the show since its inception, "since the very, very earliest conversations about what a new Percy adaptation might look like, how it would be sketched out, whether it would be episodic."
"I feel comfortable telling fans of the books who have been waiting — in some cases, decades — for this kind of faithful adaptation, that this is the one you've been waiting for," he said.
"We are involved and I think you're gonna love it," he added.
He also assured that they found a way to translate Percy's perspective into live action.
"In the books, Percy is always there right by us. He's our narrator, he's got this snarky kind of voice and you can't really do that quite the same on screen. So we had to figure out ways to make that visual."
Riordan announced that "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" will be adapted into live action by Disney in 2020.
It is set to premiere in December.
"Percy Jackson & the Olympians" is a series of books that brings to life Greek mythology as it tells the story of Percy, a once normal boy who discovers he is the son of Poseidon when he comes of age.
Two live action films have adapted the first two novels of the series: "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief" in 2010 and "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" in 2013. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
