'One Piece' live action renewed for Season 2 at Netflix

The "One Piece" live action series is returning for a second season at Netflix!

Creator Eiichiro Oda confirmed the news on Friday through no less than a Transponder Snail in a video announcement.

“To the Straw Hat Grand Fleet: What did you think of Season 1 of the live-action 'One Piece'? I spent a long time working on it with Netflix and Tomorrow Studios," he said. "It seems people around the world have been enjoying the show, which makes the hard work from the production team truly worth it."

"To everyone who's been a fan of 'One Piece' for years, and to those who experienced 'One Piece' for the first time, thank you so much," he added. "Two weeks after the launch, I just received some great news. Netflix has decided to renew the show! The adventures of Iñaki and the live-action Straw Hats will continue onward!"

Oda said that it will still "take a while" to get the scripts ready.

However, he did tease the appearance of a much awaited character through a drawing.

"From here on, it seems to me the Straw Hats will need a great doctor… We will see!”

This confirms that we'll be meeting everyone's favorite Straw Hat — Chopper, the crew's adorable doctor who they meet at the Drum Island arc.

After its premiere on August 31, the "One Piece" live action became the top watched title around the globe, garnering a whopping 18.5 million views in just four days of release. It reached the Top 10 in 93 countries, and debuted at #1 in 46.

"One Piece" is based on the manga by Eiichiro Oda, who is one of the show's executive producers.

The story was serialized in 1997 and is still ongoing, making it one of the longest-running manga series in existence. It spawned an anime with the same name in 1999.

It follows Monkey D. Luffy and his crew as they sail the seas to search for the One Piece, a legendary treasure, and ultimately become King of the Pirates.
