'Voltes V: Legacy' pays homage to toy original 'tank mode,' earns praises from Japanese fans

Japanese fans could not help but be awed when "Voltes V: Legacy" unveiled the tank mode of the Voltes V robot on Tuesday.

The tank mode is a toy original and did not appear in the anime, which made fans overjoyed to see it adapted to television for the very first time.

On Instagram, "Voltes V: Legacy" director Mark Reyes shared a photo collage of tweets from hyped up Japanese users and even a Korean fan!

"When the @voltesvlegacy global community goes crazy on the inclusion of the 'Heavy' Tank Mode we included and canonized in the Philippine live action adaptation," he wrote in the caption.

Fans geeked out and expressed their admiration for the staff's seriousness in providing fan service.

"Whoa! Seriously? Will there be a Voltes heavy tank in the Philippines Voltes? This is a nice surprise!" one tweet read, as translated from Japanese.

"Voltes V Legacy, which implemented a heavy tank mode that was only implemented as a toy that did not come out of the original. You can feel the sincerity of the Filipinos," the Korean fan said.

On X (formerly Twitter), more Japanese fans reacted to the tank mode poster released by the show.

"The appearance of this tank mode really scared me and gave me goosebumps!" said one fan. "It's great to feel the enthusiasm of the Filipino staff here!"

"Until now, it could only be reproduced with Bandai toys, so the designer must have finally felt rewarded after 46 years with the visualization," another said.

"A Voltes heavy tank! As expected from the Philippines. Voltes advanced nations were on a different level," a fan also wrote.

This is not the first time that Japanese fans tipped their hats to the team behind "Voltes V: Legacy." A month after the show's premiere, they tweeted messages of gratitude and pride for the series.

"Voltes V: Legacy" is now on its last three episodes. Catch the epic finale on GMA Telebabad at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras" and on GTV at 9:40 p.m.

It is also available on the GMA Network YouTube channel, the GMA Network website, GMA mobile app, and GMA Pinoy TV.
