'One Piece' live action dominates Netflix charts upon debut
The "One Piece" live action has sailed straight to the top of Netflix's English TV List in its debut week.
According to Netflix, it garnered a whopping 18.5 million views in just four days of release.
It reached the Top 10 in 93 countries, and debuted at #1 in 46.
Additionally, the show currently has one of Netflix’s highest audiences scores ever.
"One Piece" premiered on Netflix on August 31, after over a two-year wait. Netflix first announced that it was adapting the popular manga and anime in January 2020.
Eiichiro Oda, the author of the manga series, is one of the show's executive producers.
"One Piece" was serialized as a manga in 1997 and is still ongoing, making it one of the longest-running manga series in existence. It spawned an anime with the same name in 1999.
The story follows Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) as he embarks on a journey to find the treasure called One Piece and become King of the Pirates.
Also starring in the show are Mackenyu (Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero Gibson (Usopp), and Taz Skylar (Sanji). —JCB, GMA Integrated News
