Philippines gears up to host Asia Artist Awards 2023
The Philippines is gearing up to roll out the red carpet for South Korea's brightest stars, ensuring an unforgettable evening of celebration and camaraderie for the Asia Artist Awards (AAA) 2023.
This is the first time the Philippines will host the event, in collaboration with StarNews, TONZ Entertainment, and PULP Live World. It will be held at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan on December 14.
The deal was finalized in August, as PULP Live World President and CEO Vernon Go and its Vice President and COO Happee Sy-Go signed a contract with StarNews CEO Bahg Junechul, TONZ Entertainment’s CEO Kuk Byoungjin, and its General Manager Ms. Kim Serin at an event at Shangri-La The Fort.
According to a press statement from PULP, the Philippines was chosen as this year’s venue because of “its rich tapestry of cultural traditions and fast-growing entertainment sector[.]”
The statement added, “Of late, Filipino artists have consistently enchanted audiences worldwide, making it an epicenter of talent that resonates globally.”
Aside from being an awards ceremony, the AAA said it aims to foster collaboration, cultural dialogue, and understanding among artists from across Asia, as well as championing Asian pop culture to the world. In turn, the awards shape the future of entertainment in the region.
“The 2023 ASIA ARTIST AWARDS is more than an awards ceremony. It symbolizes the potential of art to bridge gaps in society, transcend borders, and unite people under the banner of creativity,” the statement said.
The AAA saw its beginnings in 2016, and has since consistently celebrated film, music, television, and digital content.
Among well-known awardees are BTS, EXO, Lim Young Woong, and actors Lee Jung Jae and Lee Seung Gi. Hallyu personalities Park Bogum and Im Yoonah were among the first recipients of AAA awards. It has also recognized new talents like aespa and IVE.
The 2021 and 2022 editions in Seoul, South Korea and Nagoya, Japan respectively were both hosted by Leeteuk from Super Junior and singer Jang Won Young from IVE. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA Integrated News
