'No swimsuit competition' and more: The Miss Philippines says they are not a usual pageant

The Miss Philippines aims to switch up the country’s pageant scene.

On Instagram, the organization said it is “not your usual pageant."

“The Miss Philippines is reinventing pageantry to come up with an event unlike any other," they said. "Here’s to a unique way of gathering beautiful Filipinas around the world.”

One of the things they're going to do differently is not hold a swimsuit competition. Additionally, for the formal wear segment, candidates will have a red carpet moment similar to the Cannes Film Festival.

The speeches meanwhile will be similar to Ted Talks. The pageant also calls on candidates to focus on promoting the Philippines to the world.

The organization announced that screening dates will be on September 2 and 9, from 11 a. m. to 5 p.m. at Enderun Coworking Estancia in Estancia Mall, Pasig City.

The pageant is supported by Miss Universe Philippines.

Pauline Amelinckx was crowned the first The Miss Philippines this August.

In July, Pauline was proclaimed the 1st runner-up in the Miss Supranational 2023 competition held in Poland. During the preliminaries, she became a finalist in a round of Supra Chat.

She called the journey and crown “a victory.”

Pauline was named Miss Supranational Philippines following her third try at the Miss Universe Philippines pageant last May.
