Ed Sheeran announces new album 'Autumn Variations'

Ed Sheeran is set to return with new music!

On Instagram, the singer announced "Autumn Variations," an album inspired by composer Elgar's "Enigma Variations." Elgar made 14 compositions, each based on a different friend.

Following in his footsteps, Sheeran said that he wrote songs about his friends, "some from their perspectives, some from mine, to capture how they and I viewed the world at that time."

"Last autumn, I found that my friends and I were going through so many life changes," he said. "After the heat of the summer, everything either calmed, settled, fell apart, came to a head or imploded."

"There were highs of falling in love and new friendships among lows of heartbreak, depression, loneliness and confusion," he added.

Sheeran collaborated with Aaron Dessner, who also helped him with his previous album "Subtract."

"We wrote and recorded non-stop and this album was born out of that partnership," Sheeran said. "I feel he has captured the feeling of autumn so wonderfully in his sonics and I hope everyone loves it as much as I do."

"Autumn Variations" will be released on September 29.

Sheeran is known for hits like "Photograph," "Perfect," and "Thinking Out Loud."
