'Percy Jackson' teaser gives first look at gods and monsters, announces December premiere

Oh my gods — the latest “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” trailer has fans excited for its premiere.

Released on Percy’s birthday, August 18, the trailer introduces the main character and his friends Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood. Percy is also seen on the elevator to Olympus, and there is a first look at Adam Copeland as Ares and several encounters with monsters.

The 30-second clip is narrated by Percy’s mom, Sally, who says, “The stories that I have told you about Greek gods and half-bloods, they are real.”

It is revealed that the first two episodes will premiere on December 20 on Disney+.

The live-action “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series was announced in 2020 by author Rick Riordan, with production starting in 2022. The first season will follow “The Lightning Thief,” the first book in the series.

Percy is played by Walker Scobell, a regular teen who discovers that he is the son of Poseidon and goes on a wild adventure to save the world.

Joining the cast are Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth, Aryan Simhadri as Grover, Lance Reddick as Zeus, Toby Stephens as Poseidon, and Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes.

The book “Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Chalice of the Gods,” is coming out in September. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA Integrated News
