These Pinoy-made games let you experience being a jeepney driver, delivery rider

If you're one of those fond of driving a taxi as a fun side quest in Grand Theft Auto, then this Filipino-made game is for you!

Jeepney Simulator lets you experience what it's like to be a jeepney driver in the Philippines—from driving the vehicle, to receiving fares and computing change, to getting stuck on traffic, and even dealing with the high fuel prices!

On "24 Oras," Monday, Game Changer Martin Javier tried out the P199 game created by Alvin Arapoc and Joshua Bicoy of Davao City. The pair got the idea for the game while riding a jeepney themselves.

"Alvin suddenly asked me, 'What if we made a jeepney based game where we let the players play as jeepney drivers?'" Joshua said.

"It taps to that iconic part of Filipino culture that we think hasn't been explored in video games."

After the fun game of ferrying passengers, Martin tried out another Filipino-made game, but this time it's not as mundane as driving around town.

Called Ligaw, the game is set in Caloocan City and players assume the character of a delivery rider who is tasked to deliver parcels at night.

However, the delivery rider gets spooked by jump scares as the game does its best to terrify the player. The health bar decreases with each jump scare, but the delivery rider can take anti-anxiety pills to restore lost health.

The game was initially a thesis of a group of BS Entertainment and Multimedia Computing students at the University of Caloocan.

"Nag-come up kami ng unqiue way na magbigay ng horror. Pasok talaga siya as psychological horror game," the game developers said.

"Nag-try din kami mag-collect ng survey sa mga delivery riders and dun namin nakita 'yung pinaka-struggles and pasok sila as protagonist."

Ligaw can be downloaded for free using a link at the game's Facebook page.
