7 momentous events that made iKON's 'Take Off in Manila' iKON-ic

South Korean boy band iKON successfully capped off their "Take Off in Manila" on Saturday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, and if there's one word that will describe their performance, it was as iKON-ic as they are!

So now we present you with these seven momentous events from their three-hour show that made them more iKON-ic!

Get ready? Show time!

1. Live band

Rumor has it that iKON are great live performers. And yes, people, it's true, as they did not only flaunt their great vocal abilities but also performed with a live band behind them, showcasing how great they are as artists.

2. Solo stages

Aside from the group performances, K-pop fans also look forward to solo numbers because it is the time when members can showcase their individual talents and charms. And iKONICs are definitely seated for that! DK, one of the group's vocalists, unraveled his sexy side with his performance of "Kiss Me."

Meanwhile, Ju-ne showed his amazing vocal abilities with the song, "Want You Back." Bobby, the group's main rapper, unleashed his punky side as he performed "Heartbroken Playboy," and Yunhyeong proved that he can be a trot singer too with his performance of the trot song "Fighting."

3. Tagalog ment

One of the most anticipated and special parts of any concert is the ment. It is part of the show where idols talk and interact with their fans, and iKON made sure to make that moment extra special for Filo iKONICs as they tried to speak not only in English but also in Tagalog!

Chan said, "Ikaw ang nasa puso ko!" earning a "kilig" gesture from the crowd.

Meanwhile, Bobby seemed to be up for a dinner with the fans as he asked them, "Gusto n'yo ba magdinner?" and iKONICs responded with, "Yes!" (Of course, Bobby!)

Ju-ne also asked, "Mag-e-enjoy ba kayo hanggang sa dulo?"

They also said member Jay's infamous lines "sakit akong tiyan!" and "sakit akong ilong!" which Jay learned when he studied in the Philippines.

4. Fan project

One of the best ways that fans express their love and support for their idols is through fan projects, and Filipino iKONICS made sure that iKON would feel their love and support all the way from the Philippines to South Korea.

In the middle of their encore stage, a fan project video made by Filo iKONICS flashed on the screen. It was a short but sweet message for iKON and a promise of unending love and support for their best boys! It was a touching moment not only for the fans but for the members too, especially for Bobby, who was left teary-eyed while watching the video.

5. Jay appreciation moment

A month before their highly anticipated concert, eldest member Jay announced his enlistment in the South Korean military, making him miss the remaining concert stops of the tour, including Manila. But iKON made sure that Manila would still hear Jay's lovely voice and feel his presence, as they included clips of him during his part.

During the ment, DK mentioned that Jay talked to them over the phone before their concert and left a sweet message for Filo iKONICS. "I'm sorry that the 'Prince of Philippines' will not be able to come. I miss you all so much. I wanna thank all of you. I almost wanna hug each of you."

But no worries, because DK assured iKONICS that they would be back in the country again as a group of six.

"I promise you that we will be back very soon," he said.

6. Fan chants

The last time iKON had a solo concert in Manila was way back in 2018, so can you blame iKONICS for giving their loudest fan chants because they missed their best boys? Definitely not.

As soon as you entered the venue, a loud chant of "iKON! iKON!" could be heard in the crowd while a red sea of lights emitted throughout the entire arena. When the boys made their grand entrance with the song, "Tantara," the crowd went wild and started singing along with them.

Filipinos yet again proved why they are the best fans in the world, as the crowd became chaotic and the concert turned into pretty much a party.

7. Fan service

In the K-pop industry, fan service is pretty normal. It refers to any interactions done by idols to show appreciation and support for their fans, and we could say that iKON members were pretty good at fan service!

During the encore stage of their song "Freedom," Bobby went down to the stage to interact with the fans in the VIP Standing Section. It's not just a simple interaction, though. He gave his mic to one of his fans and let her sing the song. Not only that, but he also took a selfie with her. He also took a fan's film camera on the stage and posed for some snaps too!

Like Bobby, Yunhyeong also went down to the stage and even held some of iKONIC's hands, to the delight of his fans!

Meanwhile, DK's fan service is on another level, as he didn't just interact with them! One lucky iKONIC was able to hug him and take a selfie with him as he went to their section during their "Rhythm Ta" stage.

Of course, an iKON show is not complete without the boys so-called "blessing," to iKONICS, where they splash some "holy water" on their fans while performing.

How about you? What are your most iKON-ic moments from Take Off in Manila?
