5 iKON-ic songs to jam to before the K-pop group's Take Off in Manila Tour

iKON is about to take off for Manila for their much-awaited solo concert in the country on Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The adrenaline for tomorrow’s concert is starting to kick in, so let’s keep the ball rolling, shall we?

To add more fuel to your excitement, here are five iKONIC tracks in their discography that you might want to jam to before the big day!

1. RHYTHM TA

Yeah, come and get it!

Released in 2015, Rhythm Ta is one of the tracks included in their debut album "Welcome Back." It is a hip-hop song that simply makes you want to get up and dance to the beat because of its catchy beat.

2. KILLING ME

First question when you hear this song: Are iKON members going through a breakup? (Just kidding!)

"Killing Me" was the lead single of their album, "New Kids: Continue," released on August 2, 2018. The song describes feelings after a "painful breakup." Ex-iKON member B.I., who also wrote the song lyrics, said its title was inspired by the common phrase "this is killing me."

3. I’M OK

NO iKON, we are not OK!

Released on January 7, 2019, "I’M OK," is a mellow pop-rock track, that is meant to express "A person’s mindset of wanting to cry more when told, "Don’t cry, and feeling more uneasy when asked, ‘Are you ok?'" as described by member and songwriter B.I.

4. U

The song "U" is the lead single of their third studio album, "Take Off" released on May 4, 2023. It was the first release following the expiration of their exclusive contract with YG Entertainment in December 2022, making the song more iKONIC.

Composed and written by member Bobby, U" is a pop and dance genre song with a refreshing and exciting rhythm and talks about having a party just for someone special.

5. LOVE SCENARIO

Probably the most iKONIC track on the list and not just in iKON’s whole discography but also in K-pop is "Love Scenario.” It was released in January 2018 as the lead single of their second studio album, "Return." It is described as a mellow, yet relatively upbeat track with a catchy chorus.

The song was the most successful release of iKON to date, as it won "Song of the Year" at the 2018 Melon Music Awards and the 33rd Golden Disc Awards. To date, it has more than 600 million views on YouTube, making it a K-pop "national anthem!"

FUN FACT: Some elementary school teachers have banned students from singing iKON's "Love Scenario" in classrooms because kids sang it “excessively.” (Like who wouldn’t, right?)

Now that your iKONIC playlist is complete, it’s time to jam with their songs and bring that high energy for tomorrow's concert!  And oh, don't forget to share this "Perfect" playlist with your "Best friend," because who knows, they might end up as an iKONIC just like you and me! —JCB, GMA Integrated News
