Rey Valera wrote 'Maging Sino Ka Man,' 'Naaalala Ka' in the cemetery
Rey Valera revealed that he wrote some of his hit songs in a cemetery in Meycauayan, Bulacan.
On Wednesday's episode of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," the 69-year-old veteran singer-songwriter said he was fond of hanging out in a cemetery when he was younger because it was a quiet place.
"Nakikitira lang ako sa kamag-anak, sa Bulacan po 'yan, sa Meycauayan," Rey said.
"S'yempre kapag nakikitira ka lang sa kamag-anak mo, papel mo boy, inuutos utusan," he added.
Rey recalled that one thing he did to avoid his chores was to go to the cemetery to write songs.
"Para di ako mautusan, pumupunta ako sa sementeryo para gumawa ng kanta, doon kasi tahimik, he said.
Among the hit songs that he wrote in a cemetery include "Maging Sino Ka Man" and "Naaalala Ka."
In the same interview, Rey also shared the story of how he composed Sharon Cuneta's "Mr. DJ" and admitted that he regrets writing "Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo."
Rey and K Brosas are set to hold a concert dubbed "K! Valera!" on Friday at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
