Inka Magnaye joins voice cast of Philippine release of upcoming film 'Blue Beetle'
Inka Magnaye has been tapped to join the voice cast of the Philippine release of the upcoming film "Blue Beetle."
According to a statement from Warner Bros. Pictures, the Filipina voice actress and content creator will voice the Scarab — an ancient alien relic pivotal to the titular DC Super Hero's story.
In the film, the Scarab, called Khaji-Da, guides Jaime Reyes (played by 'Cobra Kai' breakout star Xolo Maridueña) and helps him discover — and learn to control — his seemingly limitless new powers on his journey to becoming the Super Hero Blue Beetle.
In the original version, the Scarab is voiced by singer-actress Becky G.
Some of the Scarab’s lines are in Tagalog, the statement added.
Inka is known to be the voice behind the Philippine Airlines' in-flight instructional safety announcement. She also has DJ and hosting experience, and hosts her own podcast "Sleeping Pill With Inka."
"Blue Beetle" follows recent college grad Jaime Reyes who returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab.
When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle.
The film will premiere in the Philippines on August 16. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
