Vogue Philippines puts National Scientist Dr. Dolores Ramirez on the cover of its August issue
National Scientist of the Philippines Dr. Dolores Ramirez has graced the cover of Vogue Philippines August edition, titled “Ladies Who Launch: The Craft Issue.”
The 91-year-old geneticist — with a specialty in plant breeding and plant cytogenetics — was dressed in a Carolina Herrera dress, Nina Ricci vintage eyewear, and J Makitalo Jewelry rings.
In her cover story, Dr. Ramirez talked about her beliefs and principles as a professor and scientist.
The award-winning scientist is also best known for having two flowers named after her, the gumamela hybrid and mussaenda hybrid.
In the August issue, Vogue Philippines also featured trailblazing women namely, National Artist of Dance Alice Reyes; chef, author, and founder of Via Mare Glenda Barretto; curator and historian Marian Pastor Roces; and culinary historian and heritage advocate Felice Prudente Sta. Maria.
Vogue previously called international attention after putting Apo Whang-Od on its cover. Other Philippine icons like Bretman Rock and H. E. R., have also graced the young magazine's cover.
