Here's your first look at Netflix's 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' live-action adaptation

Netflix's live-action adaptation of "Avatar: The Last Airbender" is coming sooner than you think!

Over the weekend, the giant streaming app unveiled a teaser trailer for "Avatar: The Last Airbender," which is set to be released on Netflix sometime next year.

In a nearly one-minute video trailer, viewers got their first look at the emblems of the Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and Air Nomads.

At the same time, Netflix shared photos of the four main characters: Gorden Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, and Dallas Liu as Zuko.

"Avatar: The Last Airbender," aired on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008, follows Aang and his friends as they hone their skills and attempt to end the Hundred Year War to bring peace among the four nations.

Netflix ordered a live-action series in 2018 and began announcing cast members in August 2021.

In 2010, a live-action film titled "The Last Airbender" attempted to retell the story, but it flopped and received a flood of criticism for "whitewashing." — Hermes Joy Tunac/LA, GMA Integrated News
