5 highlights of IVE's first fan concert in Manila

South Korean girl group IVE just had a successful concert stop in Manila as they brought "The Prom Queens: IVE the First Fan Concert" to the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Saturday.

Still can't get over their royal performance? Don't worry! We've got you covered.

Here are the five highlights of their first fan concert in Manila, and my God, we love it!

1. Fan chant

It is so rare for a K-pop group to have so many fans in their early years as idols considering how competitive the K-pop industry is, and IVE are one of those groups who have built a strong fan base despite their two-year-old career. And the crowd during their first fan concert in Manila is a testament to that.

The show started with a VCR intro from the girls, which appeared on the screen and set the tone for the crowd. And when it was time for IVE's grand entrance to the big big stage, loud screams boomed inside the arena, and chants of each of the members' names echoed from the audiences.

2. Fun-filled games

Unlike ordinary concerts where artists just perform for the whole duration of the show, a fan meeting or a fan concert has fun-filled games installed for the idols, and IVE are no exceptions to that.

A 20-minute game called I-Ting Golden Bell was the first segment. The rules were simple: the first team to correctly answer the questions flashed on the screen gets the points! The teams are: Manila, (Yujin and Gaeul) Halo-Halo (Wonyoung and Leeseo), and Couple (Rei and Liz). At the end, the team of Wonyoung and Leeseo emerged as the winners of the segment!

The second segment was a dance challenge called "Silhouette Challenge," where the teams are going to guess the song title and dance its choreography based on the silhouette that will appear on the screen. At the end of the seven rounds, team Manila, consisting of Yujin and Gaeul, got the highest points, but in the end, Wonyoung and Leeseo were awarded as "Prom Queens" for having the highest total accumulated points from the two segments.

3. Cover songs

Idols covering fellow artists' dances and songs has been a trend in the K-pop community since time immemorial, so it's no wonder that IVE joined the hype for it.

The six members were divided into three subunits: Wonyoung and Rei, who flaunted their charms while performing the song, "Me Too," by American singer-songwriter Megan Trainor. Meanwhile, Liz and Yujin showed their strong vocal abilities with Jessie J's Flashlight. Lastly, Gaeul and Leeseo exuded swag and fierceness with their dance cover of BLACKPINK's "Kill This Love."

4. Filipino DIVEs fan project

One of the best ways that fans express their love and support for their idols is through fan projects, and Filipino DIVEs made sure that IVE would feel their love and support all the way from the Philippines to South Korea.

Just before the encore started, IVE took a group photo on the stage with Filipino DIVEs in the background, but it was suddenly interrupted when the LED screen in front of the girls turned black and played a VCR! And viola, the fan project of Filipino DIVEs started playing on the screen! It was a short but sweet message for IVE, and a promise of unending love and support for the group!

5. Members crying + ending ment

Having your first solo concert in a foreign country in front of a jam packed crowd is already considered a feat for young artists, so it's no wonder that IVE members became emotional at the end of their show!

Leeseo, the youngest member of the group, can't help but cry after watching the fan project of Filipino DIVEs, and her fellow members and fans chanted: "Gwaenchana! Gwaenchana! (It's OK! It's OK!)" to comfort her.

"I'm very thankful that you guys gave us this wonderful surprise gift. It's been so long since I felt this much excitement on stage, and we've arrived here in the Philippines with this heart. I'm thankful to each of everyone that has come today to see us. Thank you very much for continuously supporting and loving us and we will repay this love to you all. Thank you DIVE," she said during the ending ment.

Member Rei was also in tears as she expressed her gratitude to Filipino DIVEs, who graced their first solo concert in Manila.

"Honestly, it's been so long since I've performed in front of DIVEs and I'm very nervous. Seeing now, countless DIVEs came tonight to see our performances gave me such joy. Every time I see DIVEs, I really get positive energy and so much love from you and it's such a blessing for me. And I'm very happy that we got to start this Asian tour here with six members all together. Thank you very much for waiting for IVE, and I hope until the very last moment we get to store precious memories together," Rei said.
