YO DREAM: 5 Most Unforgettable Moments from The Dream Show 2 in Manila

NCT Dream just capped off their successful two-night sold out concert show at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday, and yet the post-concert jitters are still on.

Here are the five most unforgettable moments from The Dream Show 2 in Manila:

1. Pre-concert fan events

A K-pop concert is never complete without pre-concert events organized by various fan bases and fans.

From cup sleeve events happening left and right to fan projects, matching OOTDs and to freebies like photocards, albums, posters, banners, candies, bracelets, keyrings, and even food, you can say the K-pop spirit was alive and well during NCT Dream's shows!

In the corner of SM Mall of Asia, fans were busy lining up in the NCT Dream pop-up store, where merch weren't just made available but a photo booth allowed them to have a virtual photograph with NCT Dream members!

2. Meeting first time concertgoers

This is only the second solo concert of NCT Dream in Manila, so as expected many first-time concertgoers were present.

A fan named Ji, said it felt like living a dream to see NCT Dream members for the first time. Although the venue is pretty close to her Cavite home, Ji made booking reservations in Metro Manila to avoid the extra stress of traveling. Plus, having extra time before and after the concert is always a bonus.

As early as 10 am, Ji was already in the venue lining up for freebies, attending fun-filled fan events and meeting up with friends, and after hours of waiting she finally got to see NCT Dream for the first time as she stands closer to them at the VIP Standing section area.

"Singing, dancing and interacting with them was so fun! It's really a moment to remember," she said.

It’s also the same for Lia from Davao, who spent nearly P50,000 just to see NCT Dream for the first time.

Lia shared with GMA News Online that she spent around P20,000 on her airfare and hotel accommodation as she made the booking a week prior to the concert. The reason? She never thought that she would secure tickets to the show, as she was one of those thousands of hopefuls who encountered ticketing problems on the ticket sale day.

"I really thought I wouldn’t secure a ticket because na-sold out na lahat. Luckily, I found someone who [was] willing to sell their tickets [at] the same price. She was selling her tickets for both days, and it was actually my desired section, so I [grabbed] it." she shared.

Lo and behold, after weeks of waiting, she was able to get the elusive VIP standing tickets for two-day.

"It was worth it. Everything was worth it," she said.

3. Loud fanchants & Chenle appreciation moments

You know how excited the fans are to see their idols, when their screams and fanchants overpower the voices of their idols.

That's the case for NCTzens, who are excited to see the NCT Dream members after three years of waiting. Even before the concert started,  a wild roar from the crowd could be heard engulfing the entire arena as the seven members appeared on the LED screen.

And when it's time for their much-awaited grand entrance, the screams and fanchants became so loud that you can't hear yourself screaming.

The crowd got wilder when the members individually introduced themselves that you could no longer audibly hear what they were saying. In fact when it’s Mark’s turn to make his introduction, he could not start his speech as the screams and fanchants drowned his voice.

Despite the fact that member Chenle was unable to attend the Manila stop of their tour due to health issues, NCTzens made certain that he felt the love and support all the way from the Philippines to South Korea.

A loud chant of “Zhong Chenle!” echoed in the crowd, and banners such as “Get well soon Chenle,” and “We will wait for you, Chenle” flashed on the screen.

4. Happy Birthday Lee Jeno!

Few days before their much-awaited concert in the Philippines, member Jeno celebrated his 23rd birthday on April 23, and Filozens made sure to express their warmest greeting to NCT Dream’s Captain.

Chants of “Happy Birthday Jeno” boomed the arena during his speech and he can’t help but wear his signature eye smile and thank the audiences for their warm greetings.

5. Tagalog ment & Promise to be back as 7Dream

When a K-pop idol speaks a language other than his native tongue during a concert, K-pop fans go crazy, and that’s exactly what Filozens felt as the members spoke not just in English but also in Tagalog!

Jisung during his ment said: “Hello ako si Jisung, handa na ba kayong mag-enjoy?” to the delight of fans.

Meanwhile, Renjun greeted the crowd, saying: “Magandang gabi sa lahat, namiss namin kayo.”

The members promised this won't be the last NCT Dream tour in Manila.

“Napakasaya namin na nagkita tayong lahat, pangako namin na babalik kami agad. Mahal ko kayo!” Jaemin said, reassuring fans that they will be back soon.

“Balik kami agad? See you soon, Manila,” said Jisung.

Mark and Jeno also made sure that the next time they come back to the country, they will be back as 7Dream with Chenle onboard.

“Sa susunod na babalik kami, kasama na namin si Chenle. See you soon,” Jeno said.

“Back in 2020, 6Dream came for a show, I wasn’t there. Now here in 2023, and we’re here without Chenle, which means we have to come back as 7Dream to Manila,” Mark added.
