TWICE member Chaeyoung apologizes for wearing shirt with swastika

TWICE member Chaeyoung has apologized for wearing a shirt with a swastika symbol on it.

The K-pop idol earlier posted an Instagram photo of her wearing a Sid Vicious shirt featuring the symbol, which is the emblem used by the German Nazi. She has since deleted the post.

Amid the backlash, Chaeyoung posted an apology on Instagram, written in both Korean and English.

“I sincerely apologize regarding the Instagram post. I didn't correctly recognize the meaning of the tilted swastika in the t-shirt I wore,” she said.

“I deeply apologize for not thoroughly reviewing it, causing concern," she added. "I will pay absolute attention in the future to prevent any situation similar from happening again. Sincerely apologize again."

TWICE recently made a comeback with their 12th mini-album “READY TO BE.”

It features tracks including “Set Me Free” and their second English single “Moonlight Sunrise,” which was released in January.

Early this month, TWICE received the Breakthrough Award at the Billboard Women in Music Awards 2023.
