'House of the Dragon' Season 2 production underway, expected to premiere in 2024

It's going to be a bit of a wait for the second season of "House of the Dragon."

According to a report on Variety, production has just begun for the season so HBO and HBO Max content CEO Casey Bloys says sometime in 2024 "is a good guess."

Meanwhile, there is another "Game of Thrones" spin-off series in the works, revolving around John Snow.

On whether HBO is focusing on one "Thrones" series at a time, Bloys said, "My philosophy is a good script is number one priority. I am not doing it based on wanting to have one a year, two a year. I want to do it based on the scripts that we’re excited about."

"House of the Dragon," the prequel of "Game of Thrones," premiered in April last year, and became HBO's most successful series launch.

Set years earlier in the same universe of George R.R. Martin's fantasy books, "House of the Dragon" depicts the glory days of the ancestors of popular "Thrones" characters, such as Daenerys Targaryen.

Season 2 was announced in August. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
