'The Whale' is screening in more than 50 Philippine cinemas
"The Whale" is showing in 56 cinemas across the Philippines today.
Touted as Brendan Fraser's ("The Mummy") comeback role, "The Whale" revolves around Charlie, a reclusive and unhealthy English teacher desperate to reconnect with his teenage daughter for a last chance at redemption.
Directed by Academy Award winner Darren Aronofsky ("Black Swan"), it also stars Hong Chau ("The Menu") and Sadie Sink ("Stranger Things"), who plays the teenage daughter.
Brendan and Hong have both been nominated for the Academy Awards and countless other awards for their roles.
"The Whale" reportedly received six long minutes of standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival where it premiered last September.
Five months later, "The Whale" finally makes it way to the Philippines. It is showing in 32 cinemas in Metro Manila, 10 theaters in Luzon, 6 cinemas in Visayas, and 8 theaters in Mindanao.
