Yuzuru Hanyu, 'Cardcaptor Sakura' creator CLAMP collaborate for picture book

Figure skating legend Yuzuru Hanyu has teamed up with "Cardcaptor Sakura" creator CLAMP for a picture book!

According to the website of Yuzuru's upcoming ice show "GIFT," the two-time Olympic gold medalist was "searching for ways to express his own stories not only through skating."

"GIFT," which will portray the story of Yuzuru Hanyu's "life and future on the ice," will also come with the picture book offering a different perspective of the show that fans can enjoy.

"I have created the story of GIFT with various images. In that image, there is also a picture book story 'GIFT,' and I wanted to embody that image in 'CLAMP,'" said the 28-year-old skater.

CLAMP is the manga artist group behind famous works "Magic Knight Rayearth," "Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle," "Chobits," and "xxxHolic."

"We would like to help deliver to everyone another 'picture book called GIFT' conceived by Mr. Hanyu, which is different from the unprecedented 'GIFT' performance," CLAMP said in a statement.

"GIFT" will be held on February 26 as the first-ever solo ice show staged at the Tokyo Dome.

Yuzuru has been staging ice shows as a professional skater following his retirement from competitive skating in July last year. His first ice show, Prologue, was staged in November and December in Japan.

He has also launched a YouTube channel and social media accounts.
