Kate Valdez to play lead role in TV adaptation of 'Dreamwalker'
Kate Valdez is breathing life into the very character she inspired in "Dreamwalker."
According to a report on Variety, the Kapuso actress will play Filipino-American vlogger Kat, who enters people's dreams, retrieves objects from them, and uses them to fight monsters.
The show is an adaptation of the comic book by writer Mikey Sutton and artist Noel Layon Flores, who had based the novel on her.
"I randomly discovered Kate Valdez in 2018 while recovering from a near-fatal stroke," Sutton said in a statement. "I saw her on the GMA drama ‘Onanay’ and her emotionally rich performance and timeless beauty made me declare her the Next Big Thing. I modelled and named ‘Dreamwalker’ after her."
In March last year, Sutton and Flores sent Kate her own copy of "Dreamwalker."
"Me in a comic book??" she said on Instagram, posing with the book. "Even though I’m holding my copy of DREAM WALKER, It still feels so surreal."
The comic book was an instant hit in KRS Comics in California, reaching the top 8 spot in the weekly charts. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
