ITZY shows off Tagalog skills ahead of Manila concert
ITZY is now in the Philippines for the Manila leg of their "Checkmate" world tour.
In an interview with Cata Tibayan on "24 Oras," Friday, the K-pop group flexed their Tagalog skills as they greeted their fans, the MIDZYs.
ITZY said they learned speaking some Tagalog through their manager who previously lived in the Philippines.
"Magandang hapon, Midzy Midzy. Ako ay si Yuna. Na-miss n'yo ba kami?" Yuna said.
"Masaya ako makita kayo," Ryujin said.
ITZY previously visited the Philippines in 2019. The group said they remember the warm hospitality they received from passionate Filipino fans.
"We really want to stay connected with our Filipino fans and we want to study the Filipino language," Yuna said.
ITZY will hold their two-day concert at the Mall of Asia Arena on January 14 and 15.
According to Yuna, fans should look forward to their performance of their debut song and solo performance of each member.
"I know that guys have been waiting a lot for us, thank you so much for waiting for such a long time," Lia said. "We're finally here so I hope to have wonderful time at our concert. See you tomorrow."
ITZY is composed of Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna. Among their popular songs include "Wanna Be," "Dalla Dalla," and "Not Shy."
