Beauty trends you can try this 2023, according to a celebrity makeup artist, hairstylist
Want to reinvent your look this 2023?
Celebrity hairstylist Mark Anthony Rosales and makeup artist Jason Delos Reyes shared some beauty trends you can try for your "new year, new me" goals.
As seen in Cata Tibayan's report on "24 Oras Weekend," Saturday, K-pop remains a strong influence not just on music but also on style.
1. Platinum hair or two tone
For hair, Rosales said platinum hair—more intense than silver—is one of the most requested colors recently. You can also try the two tone if you're feeling even more adventurous.
If you want to keep it classic and classy, try the brunette toned hair and just add texture with chunky highlights. There's also subtle cinnamon, a combination of brown and red.
Side bangs, which is popular with celebrities, is also a good option for a change if you don't want to dye your hair.
2. Layers and volume
"Bob cut, mid length cut, butterfly cut, so ito 'yung combination ng short layers and long layers. So you just have to grab a volumizing spray, ayan ok na, volume na 'yung hair mo," Rosales said.
For men, there's the man perm so you can channel your inner K-drama oppa. You can also try the faded mohawk, a not so sharp version of the classic mohawk style.
"Meron din tayong tinatawag na shaggy hair for the guys, ito 'yung mga long hair who wants to add more texture pero more relaxed," Rosales said.
3. One focal point for makeup
Delos Reyes said a good rule of thumb for makeup looks is to choose just one focal point for your face. You can have a statement lips paired with subtle eye makeup, or go with nude lips paired with metallic eyes.
For eye makeup, less is more. If you're feeling experimental, try the sharp cat eye wings and keep everything light.
"Tapos na tayo sa mga ganun 'yung sobrang makapal na lashes, mas more on natural tayo," he said.
He also said blush is becoming more popular again and contour less so.
"Mas radiant, mas mukhang fresh, ganun 'yung atake niya. Ginagawa siya on top of the contour."
Of course, don't forget to invest skincare for that glass skin. Always use sunscreen on the face and the neck even when you won't be getting exposed to the sun for long.
