How does a torotot make loud sounds? Kuya Kim explains
It's almost time to make lots of noise for New Year again, but how do torotots really make loud sounds?
According to Kuya Kim's '"24 Oras'" report, Thursday, the noise from a torotot comes from the vibration when it is blown. Its sound waves, in return, create resonance.
Kuya Kim added that more than one sound wave vibrates in the same frequency and makes the sound.
It is believed that making noise drives away bad spirits that bring bad luck during New Year.
Although things are going back to normal, medical experts still do not advise using horns again.
"'Yung torotot kasi, ginagamit siya through blowing air. We know naman na ang COVID-19 is kumakalat through air-borne transmission,'" Dr. Charmaine Beleno said.
Do not fret, though. There are other things one can do to make noise including banging pots or using cans with stones.
