Ichiro Mizuki, singer of 'Voltes V' ending song, passes away at 74

Ichiro Mizuki, the singer of "Voltes V" ending song "Chichi wo Motomete," has passed away. He was 74 years old.

According to a report on Anime News Network, the website for the singer announced that he died on December 6 due to lung cancer.

Mizuki previously revealed that he was diagnosed with lung cancer with lymph node and brain metastasis in July. He also had a partial paralysis of the vocal cords in April last year.

Nicknamed the "Emperor of Anime Songs," Mizuki performed theme songs for the "Kamen Rider" franchise, the "Mazinger Z" franchise, "Combattler V," "Voltron," and more.

Mizuki had a final live performance on November 27.
