Sassa Gurl on using platform as social media influencer

Are social media influencers just entertainment stars? Sassa Gurl doesn't think so.

In an episode of "The Mangahas Interviews," the Mima ng Bayan shared her thoughts on what influencers should be doing with their massive platforms.

"May mga ganung pananaw na ang mga social media influencer ay may dapat gan'to lang na ginagawa. May mga magsasabi po talaga ng ganun," she said.

"Pero di ba aanhin mo 'yung ganyang kadaming platform if you cannot talk about the elephant in the room?"

Sassa Gurl said their wide platforms as influencers can be used to address what's happening right now instead of ignoring them entirely.

"And then mare-realize mo na lang, nangyari sa 'yo 'yung ineetsapwera mo so sinong tutulong sa 'yo 'di ba? Ano nangyari 'di ba? That's kinda hypocrite," she said.

"Maraming mga social media influencer na nagsasalita lang because apektado na sila."

Sassa Gurl said speaking up on issues will help widen influencers widen their perspective and realize that they can contribute more than just entertainment.

"Di ba madam magkakasama naman tayo sa bansa na 'to di ba? What is at least man lang magbigay ng kahit anong pag protesta or what," she said. "Maraming problema, mamili ka na lang ng isa."
