Single mom from Zamboanga puts children through college thanks to bagoong gata business
A single mom from Zamboanga City put her children through college thanks to her bagoong gata business.
According to Saleema Refran's report on "24 Oras Weekend," Sunday, Mommy Jing Rizada started the business on a whim in 2016.
It all began when one of her children had a sudden craving for bagoong gata.
"Nang nagluto kami, parang naparami siya so hindi mauubos. Doon ko naisip na how about ibenta ko na lang," she said.
Mommy Jing began with P300 capital, but the business has grown since then and she is now earning P20,000 to P25,000 per month.
Her mini processing plant, which has been certified by the Department of Trade and Industry, Food and Drug Administration, and Department of Science and Technology, produces 50 kilograms of bagoong gata.
Thanks to her business, her sons have finished their studies. One of them is now a seaman and another is a registered chemist.
