'The First Slam Dunk' movie brings back beloved characters in new trailer

After decades, we're finally seeing "Slam Dunk" characters brought to life again.

The first-ever movie based on the original manga by Takehiko Inoue just released a new trailer, and if you don't look carefully, some scenes might be mistaken as live action.

This is because "Slam Dunk" will be CG-animated, with Daiki Nakazawa directing the animation.

Takehiko is also on board to direct and write the film with Toei Animation.

Additionally, the trailer revealed the main cast of the film: Shugo Nakamura as Ryota Miyagi, Jun Kasama as Hisashi Mitsui, Shin'ichiro Kamio as Kaede Rukawa, Subaru Kimura as Hanamichi Sakuragi, and Kenta Miyake as Takenori Akagi.

"Slam Dunk" was first published in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1990, and was adapted into an anime series in 1993.

The story follows Hanamichi Sakuragi, a delinquent with a long history of getting dumped by girls. After enrolling in Shohoku High School, he becomes interested in a girl named Haruko who loves the game of basketball. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
