Pharrell announces collaboration with BTS, hints at individual project with RM
BTS and Pharrell Williams are having a collab!
This was confirmed by Pharrell in his interview with BTS leader RM in Rolling Stone’s latest Musicians on Musicians episode.
Pharrell said that the South Korean supergroup will be part of his upcoming album titled “Phriends.”
“[It’s] a song from my album that [BTS] sang and it’s amazing, and I’m super grateful,” Pharrell said. “Everyone that hears it is like, ‘Whoa.’”
RM said, “I just love this song."
BTS recently went "offseason" with their group activities to focus on their individual projects, and RM previously said that he's been working on his next solo album.
During their Rolling Stone interview, Pharrell offered to collaborate with RM.
“You said you’re 90 percent done with your solo album. But if within that last 10 percent, if you need — you don’t need me, but I mean…”
RM, who has always been open about his years-long admiration for Pharrell, answered, “I always needed you, for 15 years.”
Pharrell said that if RM wants to do something, then they can work together. "[And] you tell me what you want. Uptempo? We go uptempo.”
“I’m honored and grateful,” RM said.
BTS last collaborated with Benny Blanco and Snoop Dog for the track "Bad Decisions" in August. The group released their anthology album "Proof" in June.
Just recently, member Jin made his solo debut with "The Astronaut," a track co-written by Coldplay. Prior to that, J-Hope released his solo album "Jack in the Box." —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA News
