Rihanna makes powerful return to music with 'Lift Me Up'

Our favorite bad girl is back!

After launching high fashion collections, working with Fenty Beauty, and being a mom, Rihanna is finally back in the music scene after six years.

Rihanna dropped “Lift Me Up,” which is part of the official soundtrack of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” The instrumental version was also released.

The ballad is different from what we’re used to with Rihanna’s party bops. But with the strings in the background and her soulful vocals, the song’s emotion will give you chills.

According to Variety, the song is to honor the life and legacy of the late Chadwick Boseman. It was written by Rihanna, Tems, Ludwig Göransson, and director Ryan Coogler.

“I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life," Tems said in a statement quoted by the report. "I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them. Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honor.”

It is Rihanna’s first solo single since releasing the album “Anti” in 2016.

Riri will also be making a huge stage comeback, as she will headline the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA News
