You can spend your Halloween exploring Fort Santiago with this free night tour

For a different kind of thrill on Halloween, you may want to head to Intramuros for this free guided tour of Fort Santiago.

But instead of the usual day trip, this tour is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on October 31. You’ll be getting that historical adrenaline rush!

On the Intramuros website, the administration reminded visitors to respect Fort Santiago because it is sacred ground.

“Countless have suffered [and] died here as victims of war and other crimes against humanity. To ensure that the sanctity of the place is maintained, only activities that promote remembrance, commemoration, and contemplation are allowed,” they said.

Also a way to commemorate All Saints Day and All Souls Day, visitors are encouraged to offer flowers at the White Cross memorial, which is “the final resting place of around 600 souls who perished in Fort Santiago during World War II.”

After purchasing a Fort Santiago ticket to be part of the free guided tour, visit the Intramuros Visitors Center inside the tourist spot. Reservations are not needed.

Tickets are priced at P75, whereas discounted tickets for children below 18, students, senior citizens, PWDs, and government employees are priced at P50.

Some of the memorable spots inside Fort Santiago include the ruins of American and Spanish barracks, Museo ni Rizal, the dungeons, and many more.

A free guided tour was also offered early this month. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA News
