Here are the eight films you can watch during this year's MMFF


The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has announced the four remaining films in its lineup to complete the ‘Magic 8.’

According to a Facebook post, the 48th edition of the film festival received “a record high of 22 [finished] film submissions.”

 

The remaining four films are:

  1. “Deleter” by Viva Communications, Inc., directed by Mikhail Red and stars Nadine Lustre, Louise Delos Reyes, McCoy De Leon, and Jeffrey Hidalgo;
  2. “Family Matters” by Cineko Productions, Inc. which is directed by Nuel Naval and stars Noel Trinidad, Liza Lorena, Agot Isidro, Mylene Dizon, Nonie Buencamino, JC Santos, and Nikki Valdez;
  3. “Mamasapano: Now It Can Be Told” by Borracho Film Production, directed by Lester Dimaranan and stars Edu Manzano, Aljur Abrenica, Paolo Gumabao, Alan Paule, and Claudine Barretto;
  4. "My Father, Myself” by 3:16 Media Network, which is directed by Joel Lamangan and stars Jake Cuenca, Dimples Romana, Sean de Guzman, and Alan Paule.

The first four films were announced last July. These are “Labyu with an Accent,” “Nanahimik ang Gabi,” “Partners in Crime,” and “My Teacher.”

With a selection committee headed by award-winning actress Boots Anson-Rodrigo, the “Magic 8” were chosen based on the following criteria: Artistic Excellence, 40%; Commercial Appeal, 40%; Filipino Cultural Values, 10%; and Global Appeal, 10%.

Themed “Balik Saya sa MMFF 2022,” the festival will run from December 25 to January 7, 2023, and will be back in theaters.

The Parade of Stars will be hosted by Quezon City. The Gabi ng Parangal will be held on December 27. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA News
