'KPOP' the musical debuts on Broadway
Bet you didn't know that a K-Pop musical debuted on Broadway—we're just as surprised as you are!
Simply titled "KPOP," the show is on October 13 at the Circle in the Square Theatre. Playbill posted a sneak peek of one of the songs on their Instagram page.
According to the musical's website, "KPOP" will bring the global phenomenon to the Broadway stage.
The story of "KPOP" follows international superstars who put everything on the line for a special one-night-only concert.
"[T]hey face struggles both cultural and personal that threaten to dismantle one of the industry's hottest labels," the website said.
The show will also tackle the idols' endless discipline, raw talent, and ambition which makes them global stars.
The cast features both theater actors and K-Pop idols including Luna, the founding member of the girl group (f)x.
"KPOP" debuted off-Broadway in 2017. The musical's book is by Jason Kim, while the music and lyrics are by Helen Park and Max Vernon.
