Filipinas exhibit Pinoy pride as they climb Mount Everest
Two Filipino mountaineers exhibited Pinoy pride as they showcased the Philippine flag and ensembles by fashion designer Gil Macaibay III when they climbed Mount Everest.
In photos shared on Facebook by Macaibay, Queng Culanag and Florivic Tan can be seen at the mountain's South Base Camp in Nepal, situated at an altitude of 5,364 meters.
According to Queng, this is a Higaonon-inspired outfit, which is an homage to her grandmother, who has native roots from Bukidnon.
Queng said that they started the trek to the base camp on September 21 and reached it on the 29th.
“Our highest salutations to the Giver of Life, Love, and Light for guiding us all throughout this journey of a lifetime in these sacred mountains here in the Himalayas,” she wrote.
In 2019, a Pinay hiker also went viral for waving the Philippine flag in her red Filipiniana at Mt. Everest base camp.
Pinoy pride, indeed. Congratulations! — Franchesca Viernes/BM, GMA News
