Erik Matti's 'On the Job: The Missing 8' is the Philippines' entry to the Oscars

“On the Job: The Missing 8” is the Philippines’ official entry to the 95th Academy Award, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) announced.

The film has been submitted for the Best International Feature Film category.

Directed by Erik Matti, the crime thriller follows Sisoy Salas, a journalist played by John Arcilla. He investigates the disappearance of his colleagues.

Dennis Trillo plays a prisoner who is temporarily freed to carry out assassinations.

The film premiered at the 2021 Venice Film Festival. Arcilla won the Philippines’ first Best Actor award at the festival.
