This 13-year-old BTS fan has her own milk tea K-pop merch shop from buying and selling albums
Where will fangirling take you?
For 13-year-old BTS fan Given Mendoza San Miguel, it's taken her to becoming a successful entrepreneur with her own merch shop that also sells milk tea and sandwiches!
With an initial capital of P500 that she used to buy and sell BTS albums, Given has grown her business into "G's Kpop Kilig," a cozy food store that also offers delicious little things.
“I decided to buy some albums for myself and an extra [copy] to sell, to see if I can earn profit. I saw that nagkaka-profit naman, so I decided to grow the business more,” she said.
According to Given, she and her mom, Juvy San Miguel, thought of the concept two months ago.
“You might be hungry after you bought an album,” Given said. “Of course, if you buy an album, you would also want to buy milk tea para kilig.”
Since it was BTS that inspired her to enter the K-Pop world, it makes perfect sense that her menu is inspired by them, too.
She has curated milk tea flavors that perfectly fit each member of the K-pop senation.
“Banana Monster, parang si Rap Monster. Matcha Hope si J-Hope. Jung Berry si Jungkook, Tata Dark Choco si Taehyung and then si Suga, Suga Caramel.”
“Oreo Shooky and Cream tapos Vanilla Bean kasi alam niyo po ‘yung Van sa BT21, sila po yung ARMY. Si Jin pa, Worldwide Mango kasi sabi niya worldwide handsome siya.”
Given said they created their menu at home. Her dad, Diego San Miguel, then gave out fliers to their neighbors, who were supportive enough of their business.
With Given's achievement at the early age of 13, her parents Juvy and Diego couldn’t help but feel proud.
“Every time Given [was] Top 1 or got good grades, we will reward her for that,” Diego said. “She would always save that money or we put some into her bank.”
“She had all the savings that she’d accrued over time and we allowed her to invest that in her business,” he added. “We just really encouraged her to keep going and keep that passion.”
Apart from milk tea and sandwiches, G’s Kpop Kilig also sells fruit teas and coffee. The merch, meanwhile, includes those from Blackpink, NCT, EXO, TXT, and Enhypen, among others.
If she would have any BTS member visit her shop, Given said she wishes it to be Jungkook. — LA, GMA News
