Taylor Swift shares more details about new album 'Midnights'

Taylor Swift surprised the world during her MTV VMAs acceptance speech when she announced a new album come October.

Shortly thereafter, the American pop superstar took to social media to share more details about it.

According to Taylor, the new album will be called "Midnights" and it will contain 13 tracks.

"Midnights, the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life, will be out October 21," she wrote, sharing what is presumed to be the album art, an image of herself toying with a lit lighter.

Another image contained three paragraphs one of which read: "This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floor we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching — hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve...we'll meet ourselves."
