‘Genshin Impact’ teleport waypoint appears in Pasay City
A life-size replica of a “Genshin Impact” teleport waypoint appeared in Pasay City on Wednesday, the same day that the in-game nation of Sumeru went live on all HoYoverse servers.
The hit role-playing game announced the appearance of the device Aug. 19 on its Facebook page.
According to the post, the teleport waypoint will be available for viewing at the South Atrium of SM Mall of Asia until Sept. 6.
Players have already visited the installation dressed as their favorite characters.
Nineteen-year-old Miguel dela Cruz cosplayed Childe holding the ashes of Signora. According to Miguel’s friend Kenlee Academia, they got the ashes from the barbecue pit of a popular roasted chicken chain.
TikTok cosplay personality Jane Yu went as Xiangling, the bubbly head chef of the Wanmin Restaurant.
Meanwhile, Alanis Zeta became an instant crowd favorite when she did a prolonged Hilichurl dance in front of the teleport waypoint, wearing one of the many free masks given by installation staff to passing mall-goers.
According to Giany Discar, an organizer on-site, this is the first time that HoYoverse has produced such a major installation for “Genshin Impact,” “at least in the Philippines.”
On top of the free Hilichurl masks, both hardcore “Genshin Impact” players and passerby can also get bookmarks and postcards by posting a TikTok video of themselves beside the teleport waypoint.
According to HoYoverse, the freebies are limited in quantity and will be given on a “first come, first served” basis. – RC, GMA News
