Alden Richards calls for fair treatment towards aspins in PAWS campaign

Alden Richards called for fair treatment towards Asong Pinoy or AsPin as part of the Philippine Animal Welfare Society's (PAWS) "I Love My AsPin campaign."

In Nelson Canlas' report on "24 Oras," Monday, the Asia's Multimedia Star said every dog should be treated the same—with love and care—regardless of its breed.

"Kapag may breed 'yung aso, galing sa ganitong bansa, kailangan ipadala sa vet, etc. Bakit hindi rin pwede sa aspin 'yon? Bakit 'pag aspin, laging ipapakain 'yung leftover food, itatali, ikukulong natin?"

("If it's a dog breed coming from a particular country, we take them to the vet and take care of them. Why not do it for the aspin? Why is it that when it's an aspin, we feed them leftovers, tie them up or cage them?")

"What I'm really trying to say is for us to give fair treatment to these dogs kasi [because] at the end of the day, lahat naman sila aso eh [all of them are dogs]," he added.

During his shoot for the campaign earlier, he was joined by Chichi, his seven-year-old aspin, who has been with him for years. Chichi is just one of Alden's five fur babies.

"'Yung family talaga namin, from my mom to my dad to all my siblings [and] our relatives, lahat kami dog lovers so growing up, exposed kami sa mga aso talaga," he said.

("Our family, from my mom to my dad to all my siblings [and] our relatives, we're all dog lovers so growing, we were really exposed to dogs.")

Joining Alden in the PAWS "I Love my AsPin" campaign is Heart Evangelista, who is a fur mom to Panda.
